Why builders use wallpaper in display homes

Wallpaper is used heavily in display homes because it draws the eye to a focal point in a room. Bold, unusual or simply well placed, it creates a talking point and helps the house become memorable. An otherwise plain white walled room can be given a completely different look to inspire the would-be buyer.

Interior designer Design & Co usually chooses around three to five wallpapers per home, each varying in style, texture and design. We have even had custom wallpapers made, including huge dogs, and a footy game in a stadium with Brighton Homes’ own advertising on the stands.

Using these ideas in your own home

Common themes are feature walls behind the bedhead, the long entry wall, and the entertainment room, though we have often papered laundries and even pantries between the shelves. Media rooms are having a resurgence, and they are a great place for a bold wallpaper or a dark colour.
